What is a Reverse Forecast?

A Reverse Forecast is a bet where you select two greyhounds to finish first and second in any order.

Essentially, you are placing two separate bets:

1. Greyhound A to win, Greyhound B to come second.

2. Greyhound B to win, Greyhound A to come second.

This strategy is perfect for races where two dogs have similar speed figures and dominant track positions, protecting you if your preferred winner gets pipped at the line by the other main contender.

The Selections: Salacres Nando (T5) & Dupalight Boy (T6)

For the 17:06 at Towcester, the data points strongly toward a “wide-side” dominance between Trap 5 and Trap 6.

Salacres Nando (Trap 5)

Salacres Nando is a high-quality sprinter who has been competing in D1 company recently. Dropping back down to D2 today represents a significant ease in class. Looking at the clock, Nando posted a sharp 15.84 on March 3rd. While she can sometimes be vulnerable if crowded early, her raw pace in the second half of the sprint usually sees her flying toward the finish.

Dupalight Boy (Trap 6)

Dupalight Boy is the perfect partner for this reverse forecast. He is a consistent performer out of the stripes and, like Nando, is finding this D2 task much easier than his recent D1 exploits. He clocked 15.75 back in February—the fastest recent time in this field. Being drawn wide in Trap 6 gives him the clear run he craves to wind up his top-end speed.

Why the Reverse Forecast? Both dogs are dropping in grade simultaneously. While Salacres Nando is the marginal favorite, Dupalight Boy’s superior PB (15.75) means he is more than capable of winning if Nando misses a beat. By playing the reverse forecast, you cover both scenarios.

Analysis of the Field

• Romeo Big Shot (Trap 3): This is the main threat to our forecast. Usually a 500m runner, he is stepping down to the 270m sprint. While he will be doing his best work late, he may lack the initial “zip” to stay with the specialist sprinters in Traps 5 and 6.

• Rheas Choice (Trap 2): Showed decent form when finishing second last time out (16.04), but would likely need both our selections to find trouble to actually win this.

• Makeit Alliance (Trap 1): Returning from a long break and hasn’t quite shown the same spark yet. Might find things happening a bit too fast in this company.

• Keefill Rose (Trap 4): A young pup who is still finding her feet. Her recent trial times suggest she is a few lengths behind the standard required for a D2 win today.
