Form Analysis
Second Fiddle arrives here in fantastic spirits. After a break from racing, he returned to the track on 17th November in an A2 contest and absolutely flew.
He pinged the lids with a 3.68s sectional split—one of his best recent starts—and made all (“1211”) to win comfortably by nearly 5 lengths in 23.94s. That run proved he is fresh, fit, and retaining all his old ability.
The Race Dynamics:
Today he steps up to A1 grade, which is tougher, but the race setup looks favorable:
- The Trap: He is in Trap 4.
- The Hazard: Stradeen Spirit (Trap 3) is noted as doing its “best running late.” This is perfect for Second Fiddle, as the dog on his inside shouldn’t be contesting the early lead, giving our selection plenty of room to drive to the first bend.
- The Pace: If Second Fiddle hits a 3.60s-3.70s split again, he is the “Likely leader” as the race card suggests. At Romford, if you lead the A1, you are very hard to pass.
Verdict: He defied a layoff to win effortlessly last time. With that confidence booster under his belt and a favorable draw next to a slow starter, he looks the value bet to lead all the way.
