Each morning I open the excel sheet and identify and select all of my greyhound lay tips. I highlight mine using a yellow background because it makes them easier to see.

The way I choose my greyhound lay bets is very easy.

Dogs run from traps each dog is placed in a trap.

Trap 1 – Trap 2 – Trap 3 – Trap 4 – Trap 5 – Trap 6

Every dog in those traps is given a points score of how we think each dog has a chance of winning this race. The higher the points number the more chance the dog has of winning this race (In our opinion)

So for our Lay Bets we are looking for greyhounds with less than 16 points.

In the image above looking first at Newcastle 11:09

At the right hand side you will see 3 columns

Racing Post – Sporting Life – Betfair/Coral

In the columns under these headings are numbers, these are the greyhound tips from each of these tipsters.

In the first row we have Racing Post 354 this means they predict that Trap 3 will be 1st place – Trap 5 will be 2nd place and Trap 4 will be 3rd place.

Next column we have Sporting Life again they predict 352 this means they predict that Trap 3 will be 1st place – Trap 5 will be 2nd place and Trap 2 will be 3rd place.

Next we have Betfair/Coral and they predict 563 that means they predict that Trap 5 will be 1st place – Trap 6 will be 2nd place and Trap 3 will be 3rd place.

This would leave only Trap 1 that is a matched possible lay bet. That is because Trap 1 is the only greyhound not to be picked by these 3. Also it is below the require 16 points.

  • Trap 1 – Has not been tipped to finish in the first 3 places by Racing Post – Sporting Life – Betfair/Coral (Matched)
  • Trap 2 – Has below 16 points but has been tipped by Sporting Life (Not Matched)
  • Trap 3 – Has over 16 points and has also been tipped by Racing Post – Sporting Life – Betfair/Coral (Not Matched)
  • Trap 4 – Has below 16 points but has been tipped by Racing Post (Not Matched)
  • Trap 5 – Has over 16 points and has also been tipped by Racing Post – Sporting Life – Betfair/Coral (Not Matched)
  • Trap 6 – Has over 16 points and has also been tipped by Betfair/Coral (Not Matched)

Sheffield 11:17 looking at the image above you can see Trap 1 Points then directly below this Abrakebabra Cher, that is the greyhounds name. Then directly below this name we have 22, that is how many points this dog has been allocated. However this dog has been picked by Sporting Life to finish within the top three places and is also above 16 points, so this dog is not a match.

Next column along we have Trap 2 Points, then below this we have the name One More Try we can see below its name it has been allocated 11 points, this is below the required 16 points. This dog in Trap 2 has also not been picked by Racing Post and Sporting Life and Betfair/Coral to finish within the top three places, this dog is a “Lay Bet” match. I have highlighted this in yellow and can be seen on the image below.

Moving across to the next column along we have Trap 3 Points. We can see this greyhounds name is Drumdoit Nippy and under its name we can see it has 12 points. We can see that this trap 3 dog has been picked by the tipsters Racing Post – Betfair/Coral this dog is not a match.

Traps 4, 5 and 6 have either too many points or are picked by Racing Post and Sporting Life and Betfair/Coral to finish within the top three places they are not a match.

Next race Oxford 11:23

Trap 1 has 19 points, Trap 4 has 25 points, Trap 5 has 20 points, Trap 6 has 18 points these are all above 16 points so they are ruled out as a match.

This leaves Trap 2 and Trap 3 that are below 16 points. Both these greyhounds have not been picked by any of the tipsters. Trap 2 and Trap 3 are both possible greyhound lay bets.

Next race Newcastle 11:24

Our possible lay bets in this race are Trap 3 and Trap 4. Both are under 16 points are not picked by RP – SL – Betfair
